Upper Room is a Christ-centered community within our local church of Valley Baptist, here to be a place of personal transformation and public witness. Rooted in the truth of Scripture and empowered by the Spirit of God, we exist to know Jesus deeply, follow Him faithfully, and make Him known boldly in our city.

We believe that every person is created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), redeemed for purpose (Romans 12:1-2), and called to live as salt and light in the world (Matthew 5:13-16). In a culture filled with distraction, compromise, and confusion, we gather to re-center our lives on the presence and Word of God — just as the disciples did in the Upper Room — through prayer (Acts 1:14), worship, and study of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Our mission is to raise up a generation of believers who live free (Galatians 5:1), walk humbly (Micah 6:8), serve generously (Philippians 2:3-4), and evangelize boldly (Matthew 28:18-20). We seek to embody the Kingdom of God here and now — living as citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20) while engaging the world with truth, justice, mercy, and love (Luke 4:18-21; Matthew 22:37-40).

Through teaching, fellowship, and missional outreach, Upper Room is a space where we can grow in spiritual maturity, discernment of calling, and step boldly into a God-given role in His unfolding story — from Valley Baptist Bakersfield to the nations.
